Does it matter which company you use?
December 17, 2007
Are all agents the same? Are all brokerages (that is, the company that the agent is affiliated with) the same?
My guess is that almost all people think so.
If that’s true, then there is no difference between me and the guy who works part-time through an (unnamed)agency that provides no training, no support and no network of agents and affiliated services. Essentially, that guy is out there on his or her own.
I certainly hope there is a difference.
I’m currently affiliated with Long and Foster, a company that leads in market share in this area, and so has tons of name recognition which is important when you’re selling your home. Also very important is that I’m part of a big network of real estate professionals who keep each other informed and knowledgeable. No kidding, every day I encounter something new or different to deal with (as do all agents), and it’s good to know — for both of us — that I can turn to my colleagues for help, and the entire company for support.
Lastly, my approach is that of a consultant and resource. That’s the kind of approach my company encourages, and supports.
Now maybe none of that matters to you right now, but my guess is that one day it will matter. Please know that there are differences — between agents, and between brokerages.
Call me anytime to talk …. and have a great week in the meantime!
