I do love my cool web toys. This is one you may find helpful if you’re looking at the decision about whether to rent or buy. As I’ve always said, buy if you intend to stay in the house for at least 5 years. Rent if you’re only in the DC area for a year or two. Unsure? Well, this site might help.
Remember, though, that the decision to buy is quite often about things not financial — starting a family, wanting to establish yourself, building a real estate investment portfolio (who says you have to sell when you move?), or the desire to build equity through improvement. Put those items into your calculation also. Life is rarely all about money. But it sure do help, I know.
