…Arlington County nature centers are one the many “good things” that residents should take full advantage of. They offer a host of programs for people of all ages, wonderful hiking trails around their buildings, and a great place for older to residents to volunteer their time and efforts to others. I especially loved all of the great programs available to families when my kids were younger.
We will never forget the watching evening bonfire and chowing down on yummy s’mores while listening to local celeb Alonzo explain all about flying squirrels. Even if no kids are involved, I strongly advise you to get familiar with some of the wonderful activities available almost every weekend through one of the Arlington County nature centers.. Gulf Branch and Long Branch are two of my favorite spots, even in this frigid weather! But here are a few other options:

Hey, in these times of budget-crunching and belt-tightening, remember that a walk in the woods is free … and priceless!

[...] Also, some not-so-good news. Plans are in pace to close one of Arlington County’s nature centers, a direct result of today’s economy. I’ve written about this wonderful Arlington resource before. [...]
